The GAMSAT is the Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admissions Test, and it is a truly gruelling experience; don’t fool yourself into thinking its not. Most people are used to 3 hour exams at most, and the GAMSAT is a full day of picking your brains. I have a talented friend who took the GAMSAT a few years ago at the end of her Biomed degree. When I asked her to share her preparation skills and tips and tricks, she told me that she visited the forums a few times, attempted some of the harder questions that everyone was having trouble with, and then ended up going out drinking the night before. Needless to say, she got an insane mark, got into med school, and is now a practicing doctor. There are the talented few who take this kind of testing in their stride, and it’s effortless for them. For the rest of us, we can use all of the help we can get. Whether it’s understanding subject matter, to taking a constructive approach to practice exams; knowing how to use your time leading up to and during the exam, to remembering every single little thing to take on the day to make it an experience which is as seamless as possible; I have tried to cover almost anything you can think of in this post, so I hope it is helpful to you. All the best!
